The most important project in 1998 was the production of the long-awaited Wolpe Trio debut CD (after more than five years of concertizing, it's about time!). It is called "Harmonies and Counterpoints between Germany and America" and was released in July 1999. We chose five pieces that we felt were indicative of a German-American symbiosis and representative of our work as an ensemble up to now : |
| Trio in Two Parts (1963-64) | Stefan Wolpe |
| Ritus (1981) | Manfred Stahnke |
| Raccontini (1997) | Erik Lund |
| TrioSet (1993) | Scott Roller |
| Fourtunes (1992) | Dietrich Hahne |
|
The album is on the *cybele* label,
produced by Ingo Schmidt-Lukas. |

As two of the leading German music/audio magazines wrote in their reviews of Harmonies and Counterpoints : "The three young musicians go to work boldly, make their musical statement clearly and to the point... The works on this CD unfold with a strong expressive force in the hands of the Wolpe Trio." - Klassik Heute, September 1999 "The Wolpe Trio move with analytical precision through sonic worlds..." - Fono Forum, December 1999 |
